Bretholtz Center Construction Update
Construction on the new Robert and Ronnie Bretholtz Center for Patients and Families is well underway behind the temporary wall that now greets visitors at BWH’s 75 Francis Street entrance. “Things are moving along according to schedule,” said Chuck Labins, project manager, Partners Real Estate and Facilities, who explained that the demolition inside the area has been completed, new walls are being built and HVAC ductwork, plumbing and electrical wiring are being installed. The Bretholtz Center is slated to open in November. For more information, contact Labins via email—clabins@partners.org.
Sidewalk Repair
The City of Boston will be repairing the sidewalks on BWH's side of Francis and Binney Streets up to Shattuck Street, starting Monday, August 14. This work will be performed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday work may occur on an as-needed basis. The repairs will take approximately two weeks to complete. The 45 Francis Street, 75 Francis Street and West Plaza entrances/exits will be done one-half at a time, and there will always be a lane left open for cars to enter and exit. Police details will be on-site to direct vehicles and pedestrians around the sidewalk repair work area. The residential side of Francis Street will be posted a no-parking zone for the duration of the sidewalk construction project. Also, barriers will be erected to direct and protect pedestrians. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Jan Henderson, MASCO, at 632-2762.
