DF/BWCC Offers Wealth of Resources to Patients, Staff
The Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (DF/BWCC) Resource Team is working to ensure that staff providing care to all oncology patients admitted to BWH and cancer patients unfamiliar with the DF/BWCC have access to the center's wealth of resources.
Resource Line
The new Resource Line is a telephone number and e-mail address for patients, families and staff. The Resource Line facilitates access to patient education materials, support services, cancer-specific information, clinical services and much more.
Recent inquiries to the line included concerns such as scheduling a new patient appointment, transportation options and care taking for patients' homes. The Resource Line is 617-650-9395 and DFBWCCResourceline@partners.org.
Resource Packets
The Resource Team also created resource packets for staff, patients, and families, which include information about resources for patients and families, such as pastoral care and integrative therapies, among other support services.
Watch for upcoming services
A resource book that serves as a comprehensive guide for cancer patients and their families and a one-day orientation for new patients are also in the planning process. The orientation will aim to familiarize patients and families with the treatment, including locations of clinics and other issues including parking and transportation.
For more information, contact Deborah Hoffman, MSW, program manager, Patient and Family Advisory Councils, who responds to the line's calls and emails within one business day, or Escel Stanghellini, MSN, RN, Nursing coordinator for Oncology, who co-chairs the DF/BWCC Resource Team with Hoffman.
