ONGOING
Nurse Intern Program
The goals of this Program are to assure safe, competent and efficient nurses; to provide newly licensed nurses the opportunity to increase knowledge and acquire nursing skills; to provide newly licensed nurses with a practical clinical precepted experience; and to increase the number of newly licensed nurses practicing in BWH. This program includes a detailed assessment of learning needs of the newly licensed nurse. The four-day general orientation and assessment result in a mutually established learning contract where the nurse intern is established as a partner in the learning process. Clearly identified goals are developed by the unit-based educator based upon objective data, and are communicated to the nurse intern, preceptor and nurse manager. This action plan guides the unit-based orientation of the nurse intern, not only in content, but also in length of orientation. Contact Regina Cullen, nurse recruiter, at ext. 5562.
Critical Care Nurse Intern Program
The Critical Care Nurse Intern Program provides a tailored education and practical track to facilitate transition of intermediate care nurses into critical care positions.
