BWH’s Cardiac Surgery ICU nurses, attended the Annual National Teaching Institute Conference sponsored by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, in San Antonio, Texas, this past May. The conference welcomed hundreds of critical care RNs from all over the nation, and offered an opportunity for educational sessions, critical care data, networking and presentations of new technological innovations in the field.
BWH’s participation in this conference was organized and supported by Alison Gilmore, RN, and Sarah Thompson, RN, nurse managers for Cardiac Surgery, who promote and encourage professional advancement from educational sessions on critical care. “The conference proved to be very informative,” said Thompson. “The nurses came back very energized and committed to participate through lecturing and poster presentations at next year’s event.”
The purpose of the AACN is to promote the health and welfare of critical ill patients, by advancing the art and science of critical care nursing.
