Patricia Reid Ponte, RN, DNSc, nursing director of Hematology/Oncology at BWH, has been appointed chief of Nursing and Patient Care Services at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
She will assume her new position in September and will maintain a role at BWH.
Already a proven leader in compassionate cancer care at BWH, Reid Ponte will play
a major role in decisions affecting inpatient and outpatient oncology services at DFCI. She will oversee 278 full-time staff members and an operating budget of approximately $31 million, while ensuring coordination of patient care operations through a multi-
disciplinary team approach.
DFCI Departments reporting to Reid Ponte will include Nursing, Care Coordination, Pain and Symptom Management, Patient Education, Patient and Family Support Services and Pharmacy. She will also have administrative oversight of Nutrition, Rehabilitative Services and Respiratory Therapy.
In addition to her new responsibilities, she will continue to manage medical oncology and bone marrow transplantation inpatient activities at BWH.
