For the eighth year in a row, BWH has made the honor roll of Best Hospital’s in America, which was announced in the July 17, 2000 issue of U.S. News and World Report. In addition to being ranked the ninth overall in the nation, BWH received the highest ranking in Kidney Disease, a specialty included for the first time this year.
BWH shines through as a national leader in patient care, research and medical training despite the many challenges associated with the ever-changing health care climate.
Each year, U.S. News and World Report publishes its list based on reputation, mortality information and other data received from the American Hospital Association. A total
of 17 medical specialties are
evaluated.
In addition to being ranked the best in the nation in nephrology, six other BWH specialties ranked in the top ten. These include ranking third in gynecology, fourth in both rheumatology and endocrinology, sixth in cardiology/cardiac surgery, ninth in pulmonary and tenth in neurology/ neurosurgery. BWH also placed within the top 25 hospitals in gastroenterology, geriatrics, orthopedics, urology and oncology.
BWH takes great pride its many medical triumphs and in the fact that teamwork has made it one of the very best hospitals in America. Congratulations to all BWH nurses for your work in enabling BWH to continually set the gold standard for the very best health care has to offer.
