Peters-Lewis Receives RWJF Nurse Fellowship
Executive Director of Women and Newborns Nursing and Clinical Services Angelleen Peters-Lewis, PhD, RN, was selected as a recipient of this year’s Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Executive Nurse Fellowship Award, a prestigious award bestowed on only 20 nurses nationwide.
“This is an amazing accomplishment for BWH nursing and an acknowledgement of Angelleen’s accomplishments in executive nursing leadership,” said Jackie Somerville, PhD, RN, senior vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer.
The RWJF Executive Nurse Fellows Program is an advanced leadership program for nurses in senior executive roles in health services, public health and nursing education who aspire to help lead and shape the U.S. health care system. The three-year fellowship allows participants to remain in their current positions and is designed to prepare nurse leaders to play an influential role in a health care system that is undergoing unprecedented change.
Peters-Lewis was chosen because she exemplifies leadership in advancing patient and family-centered care, champions the work of nursing and nursing leadership and fosters a climate of success and celebration for BWH’s multicultural patients, families and staff.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity to participate in this fellowship program, as this exchange of learning is thrilling for me,” Peters-Lewis said. “I will bring what I’ve learned at BWH to the program, and in turn will bring what I learn from the program back to BWH.”
