Michael Sweeney, RN, Radiation Oncology, worked at BWH for 19 years and in Radiation Oncology for the past 11 years. He passed away in April at the age of 54. He is remembered by his co-workers for being a gentle caring person and a wonderful Oncology nurse.
Said Barbara Kalinowski, RN, MSN, “He was a
safe harbor for parents and children facing the scary prospect of radiation therapy. We all remember looking through the window of the recovery room and seeing Mike giving the patient and the family his undivided attention. He was a friend to us all.” Mike is survived by his four children, Brian, Christine, Meghan and Sean. His daughter Meghan, is a a Northeastern student who plans to go into nursing in the footsteps of her mother and dad.
