For nearly 10 years, the W. Latimer Gray Endowment has funded many opportunities for Surgical and Burn/Trauma ICU nurses to enhance their knowledge and attend specialty-related conferences, lectures and continuing education programs. It has also supported efforts to provide a place of comfort and retreat for patients and family members.
In August, endowment founder Judy Gray White visited BWH to catch up with nurses who in 1999 cared for her late husband, W. Latimer Gray. She also toured The W. Latimer Gray Family Waiting Room, which recently moved to Tower 8.
Gray White also spoke with Karyl Davenport, MSN, RN, nurse manager for Surgical and Burn/Trauma ICU, Joanne Hubbard, BSN, RN, Stefan Strojwas, BSN, RN, and Diane Tavares, BSN, RN, who last year attended the American Burn Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas, through this endowment.
“Judy continues to support the fund and has remained very committed, grateful and passionate about BWH and particularly the nursing staff,” said Mairead Hickey, PhD, RN, chief Nursing Officer and senior vice president, Patient Care Services.
