Degrees and Professional Certifications
Elizabeth Clouse, RN, CCM, Lynn Oliver, RN, CCM, and Annmarie Curran, RN, MPH, CCM, of Care Coordination, became certified case managers (CCM) by the Commission for Care Manager Certification.
Patricia Daigneault, NP, of BIMA, in October passed the diabetic CDE exam and is now a certified diabetic educator.
Marc Malcolm, BSN, RN, CCRN, Patrick Grant, RN, CCRN, and Lucille Dubois, BS, RN, CCRN, of the Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Interventional Center, recently received their American Association of Critical Care Nurses certification.
Posters, Presentations and Publications
Mary Antonelli, MPH, RN, quality program manager for Nursing Surgical Services, published an article in the January 2008 Journal of Nursing Care Quality titled “Restraint Management: Moving from Outcome to Process.”
Diane R. Lancaster, PhD, RN, director of Quality Measurement and Improvement in the Department of Nursing, co-authored an article published in the January 2008 Journal of Advanced Nursing titled “Scholarly Nursing Practice from the Perspectives of Experienced Nurses.”
Nadia Raymond, RN, of the ICU Float Pool; Abigail Slate Ciampa, MSN, RN, ANP, of the Dana-Farber Medical Oncology Program; and Patrice K. Nicholas, DNSc, MPH, RN, ANP, published “Distal Symmetrical Polyneuropathy in the Context of HIV/AIDS,” in the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care.
Nicholas also recently published with others: “Unhealthy Behaviors for Self-management of HIV-related Peripheral Neuropathy” and “Symptom Management and Self-care for Neuropathy in HIV disease” in Aids Care; “XVI International AIDS Meetings: Reflections on health and human rights” in Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care; “HIV illness representation as a predictor of self-care management and health outcomes: a multi-site, cross-cultural study” in AIDS and Behavior and “Characteristics of Anti-Tuberculosis Medication Adherence in South Africa” in Applied Nursing Research.
Ronna Gersh, MSN, CCRN, RN, clinical nurse educator for 14CD, had her research poster abstract accepted for inclusion in the poster presentation at the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition in Chicago this May. She also will present her research findings, “Improving CPR Quality and Resuscitation Training among Nurses Using Novel CPR Sensing Technology.”
Linda Delaporta, BSN, CCRN, RN, and Barbara Eaton, BSN, CCRN, RN, of the MICU, will present “Palliative Care: Its Impact on Patients in the MICU” at the American Association of Critical Care Nurses National Teaching Conference.
Diana Cuypers, BSN, RN, staff nurse in the MICU, and Linda Delaporta, BSN, CCRN, RN, had their poster abstract, titled “A Memorial Service in the Adult Critical Care Setting,” accepted in the poster presentation at the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition in May 2008 in Chicago.
Nicki Gilboy, MS, RN, CEN, FAEN, of the Emergency Department, and others published “You be the Jury: Was the Standard of Care Met?” in Journal of Emergency Nursing and “Can the use of ultrasound technology or bladder scanning prevent unnecessary pediatric urethral catheterizations?” in Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal in December 2007.
