King Appointed Assistant Nurse Manager in ED
Alice King, MS, RN, CEN, began at BWH in December as the assistant nurse manager in the Emergency Department where she joins Heidi Crim, RN, nurse manager, as a nursing leader. King will champion the emergency service aides and represent ED Nursing with disaster preparedness planning.
“The staff here are so knowledgeable and professional. It’s great being in an academic teaching environment as well as a level one trauma center,” King said.
King previously served as the manager of emergency preparedness and disaster preparedness at South Shore Hospital, where she began her career as a staff nurse in 1986. During her time at SSH, King was a clinical nurse specialist and a senior staff nurse. She is currently serving her third three-year appointment as the Emergency Nurse Representative on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council.
Before beginning her nursing career, King worked as a police officer / EMT at Northeastern University. She earned a master’s of science in Nursing Administration and a bachelor’s of science in Nursing from Northeastern University as well as a certificate in Paramedic Studies. King earned associate’s degrees in nursing and law enforcement from Massachusetts Bay Community College and is a graduate of the Massachusetts State Police, Campus Police Academy.
