BWH Ready for Joint Commission Survey
The Joint Commission will come to BWH between now and May 2010 to conduct the hospital’s triennial accreditation survey.
The most recent Joint Commission survey at BWH in early 2007 was completed on a successful note with BWH remaining fully accredited. BWH again counts on the dedication, commitment and readiness that staff exhibit daily to provide every patient with safe, quality care every day.
Staff can stay up-to-date with all information pertaining to the Joint Commission’s visit on BWH Readiness Central Web page on BWHPikeNotes.org. This section includes what all Medical Staff need to know about the survey, tips to answer questions from surveyors and a comprehensive checklist for continuous readiness.
Also available on Readiness Central is the Joint Commission’s 2009 National Patient Safety Goals, which strive to maintain a rigorous set of standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations.
Those goals are closely aligned with BWH’s mission to serve the needs of the community and provide the highest quality health care to patients and their families. This commitment to safety and quality is evident everyday at BWH and at its distributed campus as staff continue to make BWH the academic and community teaching hospital and physicians of choice with the most distinguished caliber of physicians and professional healthcare staff.
Anyone with questions regarding the Joint Commission’s unannounced visit should call Clinical Compliance at ext. 2-5913 or ext. 2-5810, or check the “Compliance Corner” on www.bwhpikenotes.org
Don’t Forget:
Wear your ID Badge at all times.
If a surveyor approaches you and you are busy providing patient care, you may ask him or her to come back later. The surveyor will return.
If you are asked a question and do not know the answer, do not guess. An appropriate answer might be, “I would ask my chief.”
It is acceptable to ask a surveyor to repeat the question or rephrase it.
