BWH/MGH Health Care Center at Foxborough to Open in Early 2009
With an established and growing primary care practice and a full array of ancillary services to be available on day one, Brigham and Women’s/Mass. General Health Care Center is set to open in early 2009 at Patriot Place in Foxborough.
“We’re growing ambulatory care at BWH, making it more convenient for our patients and improving patient experiences in all our facilities,” said Sharon Vitti, vice president of Ambulatory Services. “While the main campus remains the hub of our tertiary care, we are strengthening our ambulatory care centers at 850 Boylston, Faulkner, our community health centers in Jamaica Plain and within the network, soon to include Foxborough.”
The Route 1 site about 25 miles south of Boston is in a high-growth area near the intersection of major interstate highways, I-495 and I-95, where it’s easily accessible to patients. The 100,000-square-foot plus, four-story ambulatory health center is within a larger complex, which features Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots professional football team, retail stores, a hotel, offices and restaurants.
The center will be home to a day surgery center with four operating rooms, a collection of advanced imaging services and a wide variety of specialty services, including a medical-surgical specialty clinic, primary care, pharmacy and laboratory services. The center also will offer diagnostic radiology, cardiac diagnostics and full service rehab program.
The existing Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Norwood primary care practice is moving a few miles south on Route 1 to the new Foxborough center, and with additional PCPs joining the practice, will be able to accommodate new patients. David Faling, MD, Stuart Klein, MD, and Jennifer Parent, MD, of the Norwood primary care practice are moving to Foxborough, where they will be joined by Stuart Pollack, MD, and Robert Ludwig, MD, two primary care physicians recently recruited to join BWH and to develop a new primary care delivery model at this site. The hospital is actively recruiting additional PCPs, too.
The center is being developed as a BWH satellite and will link into BWH for clinical protocols, quality standards, regulatory oversight, professional development and access to information systems. There will be a mix of primary care, surgical and medical specialties on sight for opening day supported by imaging, pharmacy and clinical labs services. In addition, two ORs will be opened and staffed to support anticipated surgical volumes.
The center will offer high quality, comprehensive ambulatory services to patients in a convenient, user-friendly setting. It will continue to grow and expand programmatic offerings based on the needs of the communities being served.

New OR Medical Director at BWH/MGH Care Center at Foxborough
William Dylewsky, MD, in July joined BWH as the new OR Medical Director of the Day Surgery Unit at Brigham and Women’s/Mass. General Health Care Center in Foxborough, where he also will serve as the lead anesthesiologist at the site. Dylewsky graduated from HMS and completed his residency at MGH. He comes to BWH from Metrowest Medical Center Leonard Morse campus in Natick, where for the last eight years he served as medical director of Perioperative Services and directed a busy day surgery unit. His experience in running a community-based ambulatory surgical setting makes him uniquely qualified to effectively and efficiently partner with BWH surgery. This collaboration will bring the excellence of BWH surgery and anesthesiology to an ambulatory setting with the chief goal to provide true patient-centered, integrated care.
