Letter from the BWPO Chairman
Dear Colleagues:
What a wonderful evening this year’s Physician Recognition Dinner turned out to be, despite the weather. It truly was one of the best dinner events we’ve had, as the company was enjoyable as ever, the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and the speaking program was swift and entertaining. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible.
The evening flowed very well, and for that, we owe tremendous thanks to our staff in the Physicians Organization, specifically our Human Resources staff: Brooke Zeliff, Michele Manning and Kristen Giambusso. Bringing together approximately 500 people for dinner is no easy task, and Brooke, Michele and Kristen did so with attention to detail that focused on us. Several elements, from the availability of onsite childcare and the dessert reception, contributed to a very special night.
Their thoughtful planning made for a smooth speaking program and awards presentation, too, skillfully emceed by Allen Smith, Brian Bilchik and Martin Samuels. The banners with the names of our service award recipients were showcased during the dinner and remain proudly displayed off the Nesson Pike outside the Cafeteria. Truly, it’s the years of service and dedication to the BWH mission of research, education and patient care on the part of our physicians, scientists and all our hospital colleagues that make the Brigham such a special place.
And to our Physician Recognition Award recipients—Richard Zane, Christopher Thompson, Heidi Behforouz, Phillip Devlin and Hugh Flanagan—congratulations and thank you. Clearly, with your unmatched clinical expertise, amazing capacity for discovery and your leadership ability, you are very worthy recipients of this year’s awards.
Lastly, thank you to all the members of our Physicians’ Council for your leadership, extra effort and commitment to making BWH a great place to practice medicine. The Physicians’ Council, along with the hospital and the PO, sponsor this wonderful event each year, and it’s just getting better and better.
Thank you.
