Philip Appointed to CMS Advisory Panel
Beverly Philip, MD, director of Ambulatory Anesthesia and Day Surgery, in February was appointed to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Advisory Panel on Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) Groups. She was nominated by the American Hospital Association, and her term is from April 2007 to September 2010.
As a member of the panel, Philip will help ensure the clinical integrity of the APC groups. These groups form a case-mix classification system used by Medicare to pay for hospital outpatient department services, including ambulatory surgeries, medical visits, ancillary services, payment and policy decisions for high cost drugs and devices, new technologies, observation and psychiatric services.
