Johnson Named to Public Health Commission
Paula A. Johnson, MD, MPH, in Februrary was appointed to the Board of the Boston Public Health Commission by Mayor Thomas M. Menino.
“We are fortunate to have a leader of such extraordinary accomplishment to help guide public health policy in our city,” Menino said. “She will add to an already great board and will help us continue our progress and leadership in promoting the health and well being of all Bostonians.”
Johnson, who serves as BWH’s executive director of the Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology, and the chief of the Division of Women’s Health, replaces JudyAnn Bigby, MD, on the board. Bigby, formerly of BWH, recently was named secretary of the Executive Office for Health and Human Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Boston Public Health Commission’s role is to administer, enhance and expand the public health services provided by the city.
