At home and abroad, BWH serves a large community. In April, 95 runners comprised Team Brigham in the Boston Marathon, raising a total of $200,000 for BWH community programs, including Passageway and the Maurice J. Tobin School partnership. Below, Executive Director Linda Jo Stern celebrates the grand opening of the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center’s new facility equipped with new exam rooms and much-need office space to better meet the needs of more than 4,500 patients. The expert care of BWH physicians and nurses crossed international boards through several relief missions to Honduras, which was ravaged by Hurricane Mitch in late 1998, and a trip to Kosovo to help rebuild the network of caregivers and healthcare workers displaced the year-old war there. Closer to Boston, children with epilepsy enjoyed a week of summer camp at the BWH-sponsored and staffed Camp Wee Kan Tu.
