A revised policy on work-related injuries and illnesses is now ineffect at BWH. All supervisors and employees are urged to review the policychanges, which may directly impact the benefits received by employees who sustain work-related injuries or illnesses. Most notably, employees must now report injuries or illnesses to theirsupervisor within 24 hours of their occurrence and to the OccupationalHealth Service (OHS) within 24 hours or on the next day OHS is open.Employees also may now apply for Transitional Duty, which allows them to continue to work as a regular employeeduring their rehabilitation period. Another important change relates toReview Hours, which now must be approved by Occupational Health before the employee can be paid for the days immediately following awork-related injury or illness. Occupational Health Service staff are available to attenddepartment staff meetings to answer questions about the new policy and theWorkers' Compensation Act.
