BWH’s “Caps for Kids” committee is in its final week of collecting hand-knit goods for children from BWH’s neighboring schools. For the twelfth consecutive year, the “Caps for Kids” program will be visiting the Tobin School and Franklin Square Day Care Center to deliver bundles of knitted hats.
“It is not simply receiving a new gift that the children enjoy, but knowing that something has been hand crafted very carefully and uniquely just for them. The personal touch and care woven into each piece is what makes this gift-giving program so special,” said Joan Casby, a member of BWH’s Division of Rehabilitation Services. Casby has overseen the distribution of more than 5,000 hand-knit winter hats since the program’s inception.
All hospital staff, employees and friends of BWH are encouraged to help support this program. Volunteers are needed to knit hats or donate supplies such as yarn, needles, crochet hooks or patterns. For more information, contact Joan Casby at ext. 2-9525 or via email (jcasby@partners.org).
