On September 30, BWH celebrated its 11th Annual Physician Service Recognition Awards honoring physicians and allied health care professionals with five to 50 years of service. The spotlight of the event shined on H. Richard Tyler, MD, who was recognized for 50 years of service.
“We all look forward to this opportunity to thank our professional staff for all their vital contributions. Brigham and Women’s Hospital can look forward to a very bright future thanks to your loyalty over the years. And it is that loyalty we honor tonight,” said Anthony Whittemore, MD, chief medical officer, BWH.
Whittemore was joined by Jeff Otten, president, BWH and Lawrence Cohn, MD, chair of Brigham and Women’s Physicians Organization, who also provided remarks to their colleagues. “Those of us who work here daily get used to the incredible quality of the people that work with us,” said Lawrence Cohn, chairman of the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization. “A night like this makes us pause and realize that the Brigham is what it is today not only because of the doctors who are the best in their fields, but everybody who works with us.” Chair of the 2001 recognition event Mike Muto, MD served as the master of ceremonies. Physicians were able to bring their children to the event as well, as Parents in a Pinch provided childcare services.
