Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino commended the 12 graduates of the most recent Project RISE program at their graduation ceremony on Friday, May 11. Project RISE—a federally-funded Partners HealthCare Community Benefit program—began in 1998, and has since helped more than 80 women enter full-time jobs with benefits at BWH and MGH and transition off public assistance. “I am proud that Partners HealthCare has joined our efforts to provide job training and jobs for Boston residents,” said Menino. The mayor told the graduates, “It is my sincere hope that this graduation marks only the first step on your health care career ladder. Your abilities and sincere drive to make a better life for your family is a tremendous asset to your new employer. Partners HealthCare is lucky to have you.” As part of the graduation, Cheryl Locke, vice president, BWH Human Resources, announced a Partners HealthCare workforce development initiative to address the health care labor shortage and expand job opportunities for Boston residents.
