CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
If you know of someone whose efforts have been extraordinary, someone whose help to others has been truly remarkable, please complete the nomination form and join our hospital and our community in recognizing these outstanding people.
Criteria for Volunteer of the Year Nomination
What makes a volunteer uniquely qualified to be Volunteer of the Year is an ability to carry out the values established by BWH: quality patient care, teaching excellence, research leadership, customer focus, respect for the individual, teamwork, embracing change and operational efficiency. Outstanding Volunteer Awards are designed to honor individuals who have contributed at an extraordinary level of dedication. Examples of this type of outstanding service would include:
Demonstrating superior leadership in the development of a new program
Exceptional service to a department
Outstanding customer service
Eligibility –
All volunteers are eligible for nomination. Only one person may be nominated per department. Up to two winners may be named in any one year. An individual may receive the award only once. Deceased volunteers may be nominated posthumously.
Length of Service –
Persons must have been with the organization for at least one year.
Mission –
The nominee must exemplify the mission and the values of the hospital, as well as the mission of the Department of Volunteers and Community Access.
Nominations –
Nominations may be made by anyone in the hospital and must be approved by the volunteer’s immediate supervisor.
RECOGNITION
Winners will be announced annually at the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration. Each winner will receive a letter of congratulations and a recognition citation. In addition, the names of each winner will be added to the permanent plaque displayed on the H. Richard Nesson Pike outside of the Bornstein Amphitheater. Winners will be selected by an advisory committee comprised of the Director of Volunteer and Community Access Services; the Chief Operating Officer; the President of the Friends of BWH and, appointed by the Director of Volunteers, two department heads, one volunteer and two former award recipients.
