Partners recently participated in the Arab Health Exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as part of the WorldCare Consortium that includes Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and Duke. The exhibit was located in the 1,000-meter pavilion dedicated to International Patient Care. There were 34 other Hospitals represented at the Exposition. The exposition was made possible under the guidance and direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin –Maktoum who visited the World Care/ Partners International pavilion.
For several years, Partners has worked with public and private organizations in the Middle East to improve health care in the region. Patients have traveled from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and other countries in the region to Partners for medical care for many years. Some of these patients stopped by the Partners exhibit to express their gratitude for the care that they received while at BWH or MGH.
Gilbert Mudge, MD, BWH Cardiovascular Division, was a featured lecturer on the topic of “The Benefits of an Academic Medical Center in International Health Care”. This lecture described the integrated approach to health care within Partners HealthCare.
The Partners/ WorldCare Pavilion featured a Best Clinical Practice Theatre. Through this venue visitors were able to view lectures from several of Partners leading physicians, including Carol Benson MD, Department of Radiology; David Brooks MD, Department of Surgery; Peter Libby, MD, Cardiovascular Division.
Visitors included Dr. Luc Montagnier the co-discoverer of the HIV/AIDS virus and president of the World Foundation for Aids Research and Prevention.
