Surgeon Margaret Duggan, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer at BWFH. She assumed the position last month.
Duggan ensures that BWFH’s clinicians have the resources they need to continue to provide excellent patient care. She works with fellow senior hospital administrators and department chiefs in guiding ongoing clinical and operational improvement efforts and in implementing key strategic initiatives related to patient- and family-centered care, risk management, patient safety and other areas.
Duggan has served as medical director of Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Breast Centre since 2002, a role she will continue. Duggan was also president of the medical staff at BWFH from 2009 to 2012. She will continue to see patients.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Boston University and her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Boston Medical Center.
