Designed to provide a strong educational foundation and hands-on experience in acute-care clinical nutrition, outpatient and community nutrition, food service management and research, BWH's 11-month dietetic internship plays an important role in BWH Nutrition.
Nutrition marked the internship's 100th anniversary with a BluePrint-themed alumni event, hosted by Director Kathy McManus, MS, RD, last month. Past and present dietetic interns, program directors, advisory board members and guests gathered in the Bornstein Amphitheater on June 21 for a presentation by Walter Willett, MD, DrPH, chair of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health.
During his talk, titled "Diet and Health: Past, Present and Future," Willett discussed dietetics successes, such as the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) federal program, as well as the nutrition challenges many people still face, including access to healthy, affordable, high-quality foods. Following the talk, attendees enjoyed a reception in the Shapiro Breakout Room.
