Reiki Self-Care, May 21
Julie Hahn, coordinator of BWH’s Reiki Volunteer Program, will discuss reiki healing and how the reiki team works with patients and families. Reiki is a form of hands-on energy healing that helps the body use its own ability to balance itself. Reiki practitioners use light touch to the head, shoulders, neck, arms, knees and feet, helping to decrease stress and anxiety and promote a sense of peace. Heart Walk Kick-Off, May 23
Join your fellow BWH and BWFH colleagues as they gear up for the 2013 American Heart Association Boston Heart Walk. Prostate Health Discussion, May 29
Join BWH, the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service, and the Prostate Health Education Network for an evening discussion about prostate health. AMMP Networking Event, May 30
The Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) is hosting its 6th annual networking event, “AMMP Career GPS,” May 30, 4–6 p.m., in the Shapiro Breakout Room. Wanda McClain, vice president of the Center for Community Health and Health Equity, will be the keynote speaker, with special guests Geoff Vercauteren, director of Workforce Development, and Amy Zydanowicz, BWH career coach. Rock Removal, Loud Noises
Rock removal, which is the next phase of construction for the Patient Parking Garage at 15 Francis St., begins this week. Controlled blasts will be preceded by a series of warning horns and followed by an all-clear sound. Controlled blasts will take place three times a day from May 17 through June 12, once between 9 and 9:30 a.m.; once between 11:15 and 11:45 a.m.; and once between 1:45 and 2:15 p.m. From June 13 to July 26, blasting will occur twice per day, between 11:15 and 11:45 a.m., and 1:45 and 2:15 p.m. Learn more at BWHPikeNotes.org.
