Late last month, three of BWH’s distinguished women’s health leaders presented to a packed Bornstein Amphitheater at a special medical grand rounds event.
The BluePrint-themed event, titled “Advancing the Field of Women’s Health: 100 Years of Progress at BWH,” featured presentations by Paula Johnson, MD, MPH, executive director of the Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology; JoAnn Manson, MD, DrPH, chief of the Division of Preventive Medicine; and Cheryl Clark, MD, SD, director of Health Equity Research and Intervention at BWH’s Center for Community Health and Health Equity. They shared insight about the field of women’s health at BWH, ranging from research about sex differences in stress response and the link between lifestyle factors, clinical trial interventions and women’s health, to Massachusetts health care reform and its impact on low-income women’s access to preventive health care.
“We look across the lifespan of women’s health here at BWH,” said Johnson, who highlighted the success of BWH’s Fish Center for Women’s Health, which opened its doors six years ago, and its integrated, team-based, holistic model of care. “We will continue to develop leaders in the field for many years to come.”
