Karen Aliabadi joined BWH Human Resources last month as senior director.
In the newly created position, Aliabadi is responsible for the development and implementation of human resource programs and strategies, as well as managing HR's business consultants, recruiting group and systems administration.
"Working at the intersection of health care, the non-profit sector and the community is what I've wanted to do for my entire career," said Aliabadi, whose professional background has been predominantly working for publicly traded companies. "The opportunity to work with one of the best hospitals in the country is truly an honor."
Aliabadi and her family relocated from Seattle, where she served as vice president for Corporate Human Resources and Administration at Fisher Communications, a publicly traded broadcast media company. She was also the vice president and chief administrative officer at Federal Home Loan Bank in Seattle. Aliabadi earned her bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and her MBA at Green Mountain College in Vermont.
"We are all here to provide superior health care," said Aliabadi. "It is so important that human resource programs and services are aligned with an institution's mission and strategic commitments. Every single one of us, especially those of us in HR, have to understand why we're here. These big picture questions motivate us to deliver on our mission, grow and improve."
