Yilu Ma, MS, MA, was named director for the Interpreter Services Department in January.
With nearly 30 years of interpreting experience, Ma oversees a department that provides interpreter services in more than 40 languages to BWH patients with limited English proficiency as well as those who are deaf and hard of hearing. His goal is to build on the department’s success and provide interpreter service that is professional, competent, respected, timely and customer service oriented.
Prior to joining BWH, Ma spent three years at Tufts Medical Center, where he most recently served as the director of interpreter services. Prior to that, he was the manager of interpreter services at Boston Medical Center. He earned master’s degrees in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and computer science from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.
