From left, the 2011 YMCA Achievers Award recipients are Katrina Harris, Alphonso Westley and Vince Poon.
Katrina Harris, practice supervisor at The Phyllis Jen Center for Primary Care, Alphonso Westley, volunteer coordinator at Faulkner Hospital and Vince Poon, senior data and compensation consultant in Partners Human Resources, were recognized for their professional achievements and commitment to community service with this year’s Greater Boston YMCA Achievers Awards.
The recipients were honored during last week’s celebration of the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at BWH.
Harris is a member of the Born Again Evangelistic Outreach Ministry in Mattapan, where she tutors and runs workshops for college-bound students. She is also active in her community, volunteering to bring food to the elderly and sorting clothing and toys for children in need.
Westley serves as a youth mentor at the Greater Boston Vineyard REACH program and at the Boston Higher Education Resource Center. Poon has worked as a volunteer at the Boston Living Center—New England’s largest community and resource center for people living with HIV/AIDS—for the past 11 years.
Supported by Partners HealthCare, BWH and Faulkner Hospital, the Greater Boston YMCA Achievers Program recognizes Partners employees who make an outstanding contribution toward the organization’s success and are willing to make a difference in the lives of minority youth in the Greater Boston Area.
