Myron McCoo, MA, JD, in July was appointed director of Human Resources. McCoo, who previously was an HR manager, will continue to provide HR strategic consultation and advice to management and staff on workplace issues, making BWH the Employer of Choice.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to continue with the changes that have been made with our quality of life programs, implementation of HR’s updated policies and working closely with all levels of employees on service excellence,” said McCoo, who joined BWH in 2006 as a senior HR consultant. “My goal is to ensure that HR serves as a strategic business partner for managers, while providing the highest level of service to our employees.”
Prior to joining BWH, McCoo worked at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison as a senior Labor and Employee Relations consultant, as well as the Diversity officer. He led the hospital’s diversity initiatives, which included the creation and implementation of a five-year HR Diversity Strategic Plan.
A lawyer by training, McCoo began his HR career working with Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and his Office of Labor and Human Resources in Washington, D.C. He has also worked at GTE Government Systems in Needham and Verizon Communications in Texas. McCoo received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas-Austin, his master’s from Harvard University and his law degree from Indiana University-Bloomington.
