The Watkins Cardiovascular Clinic welcomed the first patients into the Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center on June 30. The two-floor, outpatient practice was the first to open in the building and saw 174 patients on opening day.
During this week, the lower levels of Shapiro opened. The Central Processing Department was in full swing on Monday morning in its new space on Shapiro L3. One floor up on L2, Imaging, Electrophysiology and the Cardiovascular Recovery Room saw their first patients in the Shapiro Center this week.
“There are so many people who have worked hard to make this center a reality,” said Debra Rogers, executive director of Cardiovascular Services. “We thank everyone who has worked long hours to make these critical moves happen.”
The Frozen Section moves on Friday evening, July 11, and opens on Saturday morning, July 12.
On July 14, cardiovascular inpatients will move to floors six through 10 in the Shapiro Center. Eight Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Surgery operating rooms, as well as the OR Desk, move this weekend and open on Monday, July 14, in the Shapiro Center.
Information about additional moves will be communicated when it is available. For more information and photos, visit bwhpikenotes.org/aboutTheHospital/shapiro/
