For the second year in a row, BWH was named a Fit Friendly Company by the American Heart Association. Maryellen Cotter, NP, director of Occupational Health and coordinator for BWH’s Wellness Works program, accepted the award at the Heart Association’s Start! Walking Day Rally on April 16 at Faneuil Hall.
The award recognizes employers that champion the health of their employees and create a culture of physical activity in the workplace.
“Improving health and quality of our life for our patients is our focus as a hospital, but the health of those who deliver that care is just as important, and that’s why we are involved in this project,” said Cotter.
The award ceremony was followed by a march on the Freedom Trail to the State House to sign the Start! pledge.
