Due to construction delays, the move into the Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center has been postponed for a couple of weeks.
“For a building this size and this complex, a delay is not surprising, and we had the appropriate planning systems in place just in case this happened,” said Arthur Mombourquette, vice president of Support Services. To ensure a smooth transition to the new facility, hospital leadership teams are reviewing move-in dates in June.
Outside the building, the final landscaping touches and roadwork are taking place. Sidewalk planters are awaiting trees and greenery. Street paving is complete, and crews began “striping” and painting traffic markings on the side streets around the building this week. In coming weeks, the final markings and the stamped crosswalks?—?similar to the crosswalks at Brigham Circle?—?will be laid on Francis Street at Vining Street and Fenwood Road.
