BWH mourns the loss of Colin M. Doran, 31, a member of the Inpatient Scanning Team in the Department of Health Information Services. He died on Feb. 13.
Colleagues remember Mr. Doran’s willingness to help others, his passion for sports and his devotion to his family. He kept a photo of his 2-year-old son Devin at his desk.
“Colin always spoke so highly of his son,” said Mike Palumbo, EHR analyst. “His face would just light up when he talked about Devin.”
Mr. Doran was friendly to all of his colleagues and always made time to help people with computer struggles. Outside of BWH, he was a talented writer who penned his first novel at age 16, winning an online contest.
He loved talking sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. “He’d get excited and get louder and more animated as he got into the conversation,” Palumbo said.
Before joining BWH in 2007, Mr. Doran worked at Children’s Hospital. He received certification as a computer technician from Clark University. He grew up in Foxboro and attended public schools there.
Mr. Doran is survived by his son, Devin; parents Marguerite Mullin and her husband Thomas, and Clive Doran and his wife Mary; fiancée, Jennifer Kern; siblings Erin McCarthy, Jennifer and Ryan Mullin, Meghan Doran and Briana Mullin; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral mass was celebrated in February at St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro. Donations to benefit Mr. Doran’s son may be made via the Devin M. Doran Fund c/o Benjamin Franklin Savings Bank, 1 Mechanic St., Foxboro, MA, 02035.
